Hello Kitty Online's gameplay is very item-aligned as the characters stats won't change by gaining experience and rising up char-levels/skill-levels, but can only be boosted by the equipment worn. The best items are increasingly to be crafted from materials. A list of equipment which is available ingame (per quests, crafting or ingame-merchants) can be found on this page (scroll down please). Careful when buying new crafting guides: some equipment can only be worn by girl-characters, some others only by boy-characters! You will also get many guides by quests that can also be bought, so this list should help you avoid needless expenses.
To split a stack of stuff in your inventory into smaller amounts, please press "Shift" and left-click on the icon of the stack/group of stuff in your inventory. Then a small window will open, allowing you to enter the number of pieces you want to separate.
How to get items in HKO[]
Items in Hello Kitty Online (as of May 2010) can be obtained by:
- completing quests (you will get the best clothings and most weapons by fulfilling the very linear quests in HKO)
- buying from merchants in cities (you can get some alternative clothes, weapons and tools at shops)
- crafting (the best tools have to be crafted, most of the furniture for your house and also the best weapons - especially the last ones - can only be crafted)
- directly trading with other users (Give away your old tools and weapons to "younger" user-characters instead of selling your old stuff away to merchants!)
- getting them at events (there is quite an amount of special items like clothes and also furniture you can get only at special events througout the year for approx. 5 days each)
- buying stuff from the item-shop (also called "item-mall" or "dream-shop")
- there are items you can buy with Loyalty points which are collected by activities around HKO like writing emails, blogs or playing minigames
- there are also items in the item-shop you can only buy with "coins" that have to be bought with real money
- creatures do not drop any items (like they did in the Beta in 2008), but will drop guides (crafting-recipes) in the near future as "special drops" now and then, as shown in the Dream Carnival right now (newbie-zone currently in Beta). Certain creatures may also drop edible (and healing) cooking-ingredients like honey (Pinbee or Dartbee) sometimes; and others will drop pet-food now and then (Mad Treedrop).
- you cannot gather equipment, weapons or tools directly from resources like from plants or rocks/nodes. But you can gather materials to craft lots of stuff. You can also get some edible (and healing) cooking-ingredients from many plants
- there are no auction-houses, NPC-resellers, player-shops nor offline-player-merchants in HKO
What kind of items are there in HKO[]
Items in Hello Kitty Online consist of:
- clothes and accessory like glasses and jewelry to wear, boosting the defense and other stats of the character, which is crucial in HKO
- magic wands to put creatures to sleep
- tools for gathering resources - cutting wood, mining and plucking; tools are very important items in HKO!
- accessory-items to carry (that will be visible instead of the wand you're actually using, like brooms or toys)
- 3 types of adornment-clothes (that will be visible instead of the "real" clothes worn for increasing stats)
- hair (you can buy lots of different hair-styles at shops, events and via item-shop)
- food (or drinks; will heal wounds or used-up stamina)
- crafting guides (for "forging", cooking, sewing, carpentry)
- many different sellable mob-drops, crafting-materials and ingredients - since these are often also called "items" in HKO
- item-components (made of materials to be crafted into items like equipment, food or furniture)
- furniture (for your house on your farm as soon as you own one)
- lots of other stuff like pet-food (bought at ingame-pet-shops, cooked yourself or gotten from Mad Treedrops), water-cans, fertilizer, seeds, farm-certificates, house-certificates, pet-cards, train-tickets, event-trading-items - and even new faces and/or skin-tones (via item-shop)
